Car shows,cruise nights, car happenings.

Car shows are a great thng- and everyone should always take the time to attend the local event and at least one national event in their lifetime (Syracuse,Hershey,Louisville etc). Its what keeps our hobby and industry alive and kicking .

Most around here are held on a Sunday- my guess is because people in the industry may work on Saturdays , and I think its a good thing its on the weekend like they are.

We will be at the New Hampshire Tech school in Nashua NH this weekend at the East Coast Camaro Clubs 27th annual show on Sundy. A fabulous show no matter how you spin it- classes for everyone- they give a TON of stuff away and always have an amazing raffle for a big ticket item- AND most importantly - support a Hospice with their earnings from the event. They can get over 300 cars on a good show day.

Their club is over 200 strong I beleive as well- BIG supporters of the hobby.

here is the link to their flier:

Chop-Shop Customs has been involved with events that have as little as 50 cars. Doesnt matter the size- just that it helps the local guy bring out his vehicle for others to enjoy. IMO (in my opinion) its not about the trophy but about showing off what you love so much to others.

Local cars shows are a necessary stop for shop owners like ourselves too- its on our ONLY day off, yet we throughly enjoy attending the events and meeting new people-sometimes I just wish there were enough hours in the day to get to all of them- but we cant. And we really DO like when you stop by to chat-so pease do!

Large weekend events are fabulous too- Syracuse - wow- almost 7000 cars and its like Disneyland for grownup car nuts. Too cool. We would like to get to Lake George next year and maybe the Ocean City MD show- heard both are a great time- heck- maybe even Lead East- who kows?! If you go to a good weekend event within anbout 8 hours of Woburn MA- let us know about it- just might be on the agenda for 2009.

Cruise nights are great too- more relaxed and a chance to see the guys (or gals) you havent see for  a while. Great for chit chatting about almost everything out there. Know if a good cruise or local show that happens every year? Tell us about it. (email a show flier if you have one)

I always say its the cars and shows that brought us together, but its the friendships that keep us coming back year after year.

If you put on a show- THANK YOU from our shop for keeping this hobby alive and well. We truly appreciate all the hard work you do.

Why do people always feel the need to start rivalries?

I wonder if its fuzzy too?  Looks like it is.

shhhhhhh Im blogging while at my REAL job.

July 29th, 2008 by chopshopcustoms

So here I sit in my office at my real job (OK working with Chop-Shop Customs as the Director of BUsiness Development is NOT my life goal- sorry to announce) where I am a Senior Account MAnager for an e newsletter company called iMake News (www.imninc.com ).

What the heck is that? You may ask… well- do you get a newsletter from your local car dealership? Chances are its one I created- or at leats my team here at the office.

There you go. And here is a shocker: I actually use the program here at work for the Chop-Shop Customs’ newsletter (legally I may add- I have a contract for it and everything). WOW!

Its really easy to use as well- even our kid Nathan can add stuff to create a newsletter. MUCH better than Constant Contact’s program and just about as cheap - with reporting so you can actually SEE how its doing and if people are reading what you worte .

 Enough sales stuff…LOL

IM getting our things ready for the Rod & Custom Natioanls show this weekend in Marlboro MA. Anyone who wants to go can- its an ALL VEHICLE show- which means anything neat and clean and show worthy can be in the show car lot.

People should definately check it out www.shocarassociation.com is the website for the show. Its a first annual- but I really think its gonna fly for those of us who wont make the drive to Louisville…

Gotta run- the boss is coming!

Our first Blogworld post

July 26th, 2008 by chopshopcustoms

So - Chop-Shop Customs is finally entering the worl of blogging. After the gazillion message board postings we do every week, it was time to finally start a blog where you can actually get  inside the minds of who and what make Chop-Shop Customs tick.

For those of you who are saying ‘ who the heck is Chop-Shop Customs and why am I reading this?’ I guess Ill digress and tell you a bit about us.

our sign

Chop-Shop Customs is a hot rod shop. We build cars. We opened in 2004 and have been going full stead ahead since then , fabricating and building to our hearts content. Chop-Shop Customs has had every kind of car imaginable in our shop by now- we do a ton of English car metal work (since there arent a lot of shops out there that can produce metalwork like we do) and have been really getting into muscle cars as of late.

The clientele is good and likes what we do- a recipe for success I have been told!

Its a steamy Saturday morning and Lenny has already left for the shop- working another 6-7 day work week. Wearing shorts too I might add- (which looks pretty silly with workboots and knee high socks̷ ;) I can guarantee that this blog will be just me (Dana -Director of Business Development) or a myriad of anyone from the shop blogging- I think that may kinda be a cool thing- lets you get inside their minds.

The shop is superbusy too- lots of work going on and not ever enough time to get to all the things we want to.

We have Shelley now- who is the best thing that ever happened to our shop- she is gonna be able to track expenses (and there are so many people wouldnt even realize) as well as finally be able to chase people down who are a bit lax in paying us- Lenny doenst have to worry about doing that anymore and can finally go back to making pretty cars out of rusty stuff. Im glad :)

Took some new pics yesterday (actually Shelley did) and we uploaded them on the site: www.chop-shopcustoms.com - I hope people are checking it out on a constant basis as its the best place to see whats transpiring each week.

Most people dont realize that we dont work on every car every week either- just wouldnt be possible in our shop due to size constraints- plus if we did that -then EVERYONE would owe us $$$ and no one gets a chance to recoup …LOL

OK Im done now. Hopefully, this blog will become active and I wont forget about it with everything else I do… Chaka…
